Windham County, Connecticut Warrant Search

Arrest and search warrants are two of the most common kinds of warrants issued by courts in the Windham County area. The former allows police officers to apprehend a designated individual when a criminal investigation establishes probable cause that they committed or participated in the offense, while the latter authorizes a lawful search of a specified premises, vehicle, or property for criminal evidence.

Per C.G.S. § 54-33c, search warrants automatically become public records after their execution and return to the issuing court unless sealed by order of the court. Similarly, criminal arrest warrants are generally open after an arrest occurs unless sealed by the court (Connecticut Practice Book, Section 36-2). Nevertheless, certain active arrest warrants, usually bench warrants, may be viewed by the public through the judicial branch.
