Online case lookups through the Connecticut Case Look-up System are entirely free, including when users view case docket information or download/print public case documents. However, certified and confidential records are not disseminated online.

Conversely, public users can view basic case details through the centralized Probate Case Lookup Tool-such as the Case Number, Case Name, Court, Date Filed, Case Type, and Fiduciary. However, only the case party or an attorney of record can view or download actual probate document images online via the eFiling system; a general case lookup system for this kind of access is not provided. Members of the public who wish to obtain actual probate document images must contact or visit the localized district clerk's office directly.

In-Person Access

Individuals can visit the Court Service Center located in the Windham Judicial District in Putnam to access case information and files from the Windham Superior Court. This center is located on the 2nd Floor of the Putnam courthouse and can be contacted at (860) 928-7749, ext. 4022. Visitors also have access to public-use computers and printers with internet access and word processing. Note that copying and certification fees apply.

Another in-person option for case research is to visit the Putnam Law Library, which is also located at the Putnam Courthouse. Email / Phone Requests

Requests for closed or disposed Superior Court court files can be emailed directly to SuperiorCourtRecordsCenter@jud.ct.gov or processed by phone by contacting the Centralized Services Unit at (860) 263-2750. All requests must specify the case name and docket number (the docket number can be retrieved via a name search on the Connecticut Case Look-up System). Records are emailed at no charge to the requester, but size limitations may apply. Alternatively, the requester can opt for manual pickup at any court location or through the Centralized Services Unit (copy and certification charges apply).

Federal Court Records in Windham County

The United States District Court for the District of Connecticut maintains original jurisdiction over all federal cases originating in Windham County. The court hears proceedings at its Bridgeport, Hartford, and New Haven locations; there is no rigid statutory geographical subdivision for Windham County, as seen in some other federal court districts.
